Messy Church Blog: Jesus Lives!

Jesus Lives Craft

Our April Messy Church was a beautiful, powerful journey through the Easter story, walking step by step with Jesus from Palm Sunday to the resurrection. The children brought the story to life through drama, prayer, songs, and crafts, reflecting on the great sacrifice Jesus made so that our friendship with God could be restored.

We began with Jesus’ triumphant arrival in Jerusalem , the children acted out the scene, laying down palm leaves and cheering for the King riding on a colt. The atmosphere then shifted as we followed Jesus through His trial, His long walk to Golgotha, His death on the cross, and His burial in the tomb.

But that wasn’t the end of the story, joy filled the room as we reached Sunday!
We celebrated the new hope we have through Jesus’ sacrifice and victory over death.

🌱 During our Creative Prayer, we planted sunflower seeds as a symbol of hope and transformation.
Each child filled their pot with soil and gently placed in a seed, learning that just like a seed must “die” to bring forth a beautiful flower, Jesus’ sacrifice brings new life to us all. We prayed together, thanking Him for making a way for us to grow, change, and become more like Him.

🎶 Our songs for the day were full of joy and meaning:

🎨 For our crafts, the children created:

  • A mini “empty tomb” using a doughnut, icing sugar, and flowers — complete with the stone rolled away!

The key verse we focused on was:

“Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” — John 12:24

At this month’s Messy Church, we explored the powerful story of Saul’s life-changing encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus. The children acted out the story, made colourful glasses, crafted fruit faces, and even tried drawing while blindfolded!

We learned that God can open our eyes and change our hearts, just like He did for Saul. It was a joyful session full of creativity, faith, and fun—and we can’t wait to see you at the next one!

Storms, boats, and brave hearts, this month at Messy Church we crossed to the other side!
With a homemade boat, swaying parachutes, and edible crafts, the children stepped into the story of Jesus calming the storm.
