Clay Jar

This month at Messy Church, we took a joyful journey back in time to celebrate a very special wedding , the one at Cana, where Jesus performed His first miracle!

The Story:

With big smiles and lots of excitement, the children acted out the story together in an interactive retelling of the Wedding at Cana. They dressed up in costume to make the scene come alive , from Jesus and Mary to caterers, party guests, and even the bride and groom! The clay jars were brought in, the procession re-enacted, and with great delight, the children helped turn water into grape juice to show how Jesus transformed water into wine.

We paused to reflect on how this miracle , while it saved a party from embarrassment , it also shows us something deep and meaningful: Jesus cares about all parts of our lives, even the celebrations. Just as He was present at that wedding, Jesus loves to share in our joy today. Whether it’s a birthday, family dinner, or a wedding , God delights in being with us.

Songs Sung:

The crafts this month were extra special too. The children:

  • Moulded clay jars, just like the ones used at the wedding, to remember how Jesus performed His miracle.
  • Decorated gingerbread people to represent the bride and groom, adding their own creative flair with icing and sweets. This was a favourite!

There was so much laughter, sharing, and learning. The children walked away not just with full hands, but full hearts, knowing that Jesus is with us in the little and big moments, and that His love brings joy.

We’d love for you to join the next session. Please visit our events page to see when and where: https://lovemessychurch.co.uk/events/list/
