The Apprentice

A story of calling, courage, and following God together

This month at Messy Church, we explore the story of Elijah and Elisha, a moment where one person is called to step into something new, and another is invited to follow.

Elisha was going about his normal day when Elijah placed his cloak over him, a simple but powerful sign that God was calling him to something bigger. Elisha had a choice: stay where he was, or step into the unknown and trust God.

Through crafts, storytelling, and time together, we’ll explore what it means to follow, to learn, and to grow, just like an apprentice.

We’ll think about:

• What it means to be chosen and called
• How it feels to step into something new
• Why having someone to guide and support us matters

This is a story about courage, trust, and saying “yes” to God, even when we’re not sure what comes next.

• Hands-on crafts themed around following and learning
• An interactive storytelling of Elijah and Elisha

Faith takeaway

God calls each of us in different ways, and we don’t have to have everything figured out. Like Elisha, we can take a step forward, trust God, and grow as we go.
